Five fire engines were called to a huge blaze at the factory in the West Midlands at 7.20am on Saturday (September 26).
The “accidental” fire destroyed the single-storey building in Walsal End Lane, Hampton-in-Arden, near Solihull, according to West Midlands Fire Service.
‘Roof had collapsed internally’
A fire service spokesman said: “100% of the building was involved in a fire. It looks like the roof had collapsed internally into the factory unit.”
Photographs posted on social media site Twitter showed crates of destroyed toffee apples in front of the charred remains of the factory.
On Saturday Sheldon fire station’s Twitter account posted: “Just left scene of factory fire that produces toffee apples for Halloween.”

Firefighters use water jets
About 25 firefighters, from five engines, tackled the fire using water jets. Firefighting operations finished at about noon.
Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a huge fire at a salad factory in North Yorkshire this month.
Flames enveloped a warehouse and spread to a second building, believed to be offices, on Selby Salads’ food manufacturing site in Camblesforth.
Last month a fire ravaged a wholesale market in Birmingham and a powder explosion burnt a worker at a factory in Staffordshire.
