Burger manufacturer to open new £4M factory
The factory will enable the manufacturer to increase its production capacity, and develop new customers for the fast food and foodservice markets, it said. Its current site, which neighbours the new facility, allows The Burger Manufacturing Company to produce 630 burgers a minute.
The new site will be opened by Welsh government first minister Carwyn Jones. He opened the manufacturer’s current site in Builth Wells, Powys, in the year 2000.
Create new jobs
The Burger Manufacturing Company will move to its new facility after an investment from the Welsh government. It will create new jobs at the site, it confirmed.
In August, it was reported that the new site will be 2,967m2 larger than its current site, and 25 new jobs would be created by the investment. It was claimed the new manufacturing facility would allow The Burger Manufacturing Company to treble its production.
Welsh government cabinet secretary for environment and rural affairs Lesley Griffiths told NewsNorthWales at the time: “It’s great to see a local company expanding, providing new business opportunities and creating new jobs in a rural area.
‘Support the expansion’
“I am pleased we have been able to support the expansion through the Rural Development Plan, and I wish The Burger Manufacturing Company the best of luck in its development.”
In its latest financial update, the manufacturer reported sales of £9.9M in the year to September 30. It spent £1.5M of capital expenditure on its production facilities over the 12 months.
Meanwhile, last month biscuit manufacturer Phoenix Brands invested £1.5M in a new factory in Wolverhampton. The new 2,787m2 facility would create an additional 10 jobs, the manufacturer confirmed.
