Ginsters factory fire was ‘difficult’ to fight
Crews attended the fire after a 999 call at 17:58 alerted them to the blaze in the factory’s chimney.
Three fire engines from Callington and Liskeard were on the scene to fight the fire at the factory on Tavistock road.
Fire crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to help tackle the fire.
Battle the blaze
Crews liaised with onsite staff to remove a section of the chimney to help battle the blaze. The incident was left in the hands of onsite engineers after the fire had been extinguished.
A spokeswoman from Ginsters parent company, Samworth Brothers, told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “This was a very small fire in one of the oven chimneys at the Callington site.”
No one was injured in the fire and it had not affected production at the factory. It had also caused very minor damage.
