Graze manufactures food for major supermarkets

Graze, the online snack manufacturer, will launch into more than 1,200 major retailers across the UK in a bid to expand its £68M turnover business with its new Good to Go range.

The firm, which was the Judges’ Star Performer at last year’s free-to-enter Food Manufacture Excellence Awards (see details of how to enter below), was approached by Sainsbury, Boots and WH Smith Travel to develop a range of healthy on-the-go snacks.

Supermarkets were seeking healthy snack alternatives to confectionery to keep next to till points, after a voluntary ban on ‘guilty checkouts’ had dented add-on sales, according to industry commentators.

Graze ceo Anthony Fletcher said: “The launch into retail allows our delicious and healthier snacks to reach new customers and segments. It brings Graze one step closer to achieving our vision of becoming the number one healthier snack brand in the UK.”

The range was trialled in several Boots stores across the country and accounted for the highest rate of sales across the stores’ total snack categories, Fletcher said.

More than 50% of the purchases were made by customers who hadn’t bought products from the Boots’ snacking category in the past five months, research revealed.

Sainsbury will take on 12 stock keeping units, the retailer’s impulse category planner Amy King said.

“Sainsbury is very pleased to be partnering with Graze on bringing a tasty and more permissible snacking offer to our customers,” King said.

“In Graze, we have found a manufacturer who offers a variety of delicious, convenient snacks to suit everyone’s taste.”
