Oil launched for ammonia systems
To meet growing use of ammonia as a natural refrigerant, ExxonMobil has launched a mineral-based oil for ammonia compressor refrigeration systems.

Mobil Gargoyle Arctic 68 NH has been designed to help improve system efficiency, and is said to offer cost benefits for industrial refrigeration operators.

The new oil is designed for large industrial reciprocating and rotary refrigeration compressors used in food freezing, cold storage and marine applications.

Thanks to its formulation, Mobil Gargoyle Arctic 68 NH is claimed to offer better performance when compared with conventional mineral-based refrigeration oils.

Extended oil drain intervals, better oil flow and wide temperature performance are among the benefits claimed.

“It is predicated that ammonia will be one of the main industrial refrigerants by 2020,” said Rainer Lange, Mobil SHC brand supervisor at ExxonMobil.

Mobil Gargoyle Arctic 68 NH is the latest addition to ExxonMobil’s range of lubricants for refrigeration compressors and systems.
