The latest thinking in food and drink new product development (NPD) will be featured in seminar called ‘Breakthrough Innovation’ taking place in London on April 14.

The event, organised by the Food & Drink Innovation Network and chaired by Costas Papaikonomou, co-founder of The Happen Group, one of the world’s largest breakthrough NPD specialists, aims to help delegates create some really new disruptive products, which will benefit their brands now and in the years to come.

New technologies

Other speakers at the seminar will include Daisy Jones, global food science analyst with Mintel, who will describe what new technologies are emerging to shape food and drink innovation, and Professor Tim Benton, the UK champion for global food security, who describe how to manage the global challenge of a sustainable agri-food industry.

Rick Wielens, ceo of Nine Sigma, will describe the role of open innovation in NPD, while Mary van Hoek from Wageningen University in The Netherlands will describe how to spot new developments on the fringes of your category; how to find technology solutions globally when your ‘normal networks’ are not enough; and how to convert new technology into impactful new products which will sell and sell.

Professor Kathy Groves from the Leatherhead Nano Watch Working Group will highlight the latest developments in nanotechnology, while Andrew Streeter, md of CPS International, will discuss how packaging innovation is accelerating brand change and where it is going.
