Sacked Top Gear star offered job at Aldi
After the BBC’s director general Tony Hall confirmed yesterday (March 25) Clarkson would not have his Top Gear contract renewed, the discount store offered employment via a tongue-in-cheek message on the social networking site Twitter.
It posted last night: “Don’t worry ... Jeremy Clarkson, our Chipping Norton store’s opening soon, so contact Aldi Careers UK if you’re interested ...” See the full tweet below.
Physically assaulting
Clarkson was fired from the global, smash hit TV show after physical assaulting one of his colleagues in a row over an absent steak.
Announcing Clarkson’s exit, Hall said in a statement: “A member of staff – [Top Gear producer Oisin Tymon] who was a completely innocent party – took himself to Accident and Emergency after a physical altercation accompanied by sustained and prolonged verbal abuse of an extreme nature.
“For me, a line has been crossed. There cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another dictated by either rank, or public relations and commercial considerations.”
No steak was available
The assault on the hapless producer, initially described by the BBC as a "fracas", took place when he told Clarkson no steak was available for his dinner, after the star arrived at a hotel from filming a Top Gear episode.

If a customer service role is a poor match for Clarkson’s skill set, he may be tempted by one of the 500 jobs in Aldi’s new distribution store, announced last week. If he decides to reject Aldi’s offer, he could select one of hundreds of other food and drink industry jobs advertised on FoodManJobs.
