Having made Corn Flakes for the past 78 years, today, the Barton Dock Road site produces an impressive 1M boxes of cereal a day for both the UK and overseas markets.
In this exclusive interview – part of our Me and My Factory video profile series – O’Brien told FoodManufacture.co.uk that he was “constantly looking for ways to do the same thing, but better”, which required working closely with teams of staff to generate ideas and turn them into “good quality, tangible solutions”.
Greenfield aspiration
He went on to explain that investment had helped to modernise the factory, with the aspiration being that it would be viewed as a “greenfield site”, allowing the business to compete with the most modern manufacturers.
