The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has temporarily appointed Richard Hoskin as the head of the newly created Food Crime Unit (FCU), with the title head of food crime, incidents and resilience.

In a statement, an FSA spokeswoman told FoodManufacture.co.uk: “Richard Hoskin is temporarily filling the role of head of the FCU while we recruit for the position on a more permanent basis.”

Hoskin has held the post of FSA head of planning, performance and change for more than five years, beginning that role in November 2009.

Revelation

The move follows the revelation that FSA chief operating officer Andrew Rhodes had swapped roles with director of the Department of Workplace Pensions Jason Feeney.

FSA chairman Tim Bennett confirmed changes to the membership of the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment yesterday (January 29).

Food Standards Scotland announced seven appointments earlier this month in preparation for taking over the powers of the FSA in Scotland from April 1.

The FSA denied that the changes were part of a wider restructure.
