One of the UK's largest meat companies will be created following the purchase of Flagship Foods by Danish Crown's UK subsidiary Tulip. It will have UK sales of close to £1bn and around 7,000 workers at 21 sites.

Flagship comprises Roach Foods, Dalehead Foods and Flagship Fresh Meats, which it acquired from Glanbia in 2003.

Tulip has several processors in the UK, including Hygrade Foods.
