Attempts by the food industry to squash Sid the Slug's low-salt advertising campaign have failed.
The 1.8m tall, animated mollusc was created for the Food Standards Agency to warn consumers about health problems associated with eating too much salt. The Salt Manufacturers' Association complained that Sid was misleading the public into believing that all salt kills but the Advertising Standards Authority threw out the complaint, saying that Sid's message was unlikely to be misinterpreted or cause any offense.
