In response to consumer demand, supplier of weighing and packaging systems Bizerba says it has developed an interface that allows wrap-around labels to print catch weight information for the first time.
Traditionally, wrap-around labellers are not linked to weighing mechanisms and are therefore only able to print fixed weight information, it says.
Working with coding company Markem, Bizerba has developed the GxS interface which sits at the end of the weigh-price labeller. The labeller feeds the catch weight of each pack to the GxS system which then translates this information into a language that enables Markem's wrap-around labellers to print the catch weight of the pack.
The GxS has been developed with a number of safeguards. For example, a reject signal detects if a pack is over- or under- weight, while an anti-tamper signal causes the process to stop if a pack is removed once weighed.
