The Sentry VF metal detector, introduced by Cintex at the Total Processing and Packaging Show last year, is now in full production, says Carla Whyte, marketing manager. It is claimed to be the first to feature true variable frequency capabilities when compared with previous equipment, which was limited by the restrictions caused by single frequency and 'limited frequency' detectors.
Traditional metal detectors need internal adjustments when they are required to deal with a product that is materially different from others inspected on a line. "Typically, an engineer has to be called to retune the detector's frequency, a task that can take some hours and delay production."
The new Cintex system allows dozens of frequencies between 40kHz and 900kHz to be 'dialled in' from a control panel. This allows a 'sweet spot' to be set that maximises metal sensitivity for the current product, providing a greater sensitivity and a higher accuracy than could be achieved previously.
