A new service to enable medium-sized retailers to offer own-label ranges of sandwiches has been set up by Freshway Foods.
The Wolverhampton-based sandwich manufacturer, which already supplies four of the UK’s top ten retailers, says there is a gap in the market for organisations that are normally too small to justify having their own ranges, but would benefit from the extra branding.
The company plans to target businesses selling more than 3,000 sandwiches a week, such as coach and train companies, universities and colleges, hospitals, and garden centres.
The new service, called Smartbrand, offers 28 different sandwich options along with an own-label design and printing service, as well as point of sale material and some distribution services throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Marketing manager John Preston said: “For too long the industry has not catered for the medium-sized operator.”
