Food processing equipment supplier Carlisle Process Systems (CPS) has taken on the distribution of the Reda range of automatic self-cleaning centrifugal separators in the UK. This equipment, used for separation of milk, whey, cream and buttermilk, achieves a high centrifugal force and therefore high operating efficiency, thanks to its sophisticated balancing system and special mechanical drive.
Models are available for both high and low volume production. The RE15T, for example, can skim 1,000-1,500litres/h of milk, standardise 2,500l/h, and skim 2,500l/h of whey. At the other end of the scale Reda makes machines that can skim milk up to 35,000l/h.
For applications of 12,000l/h or less, CPS can supply machines on a stainless steel base. This enables units to be fully pre-wired and greatly reduces installation costs.
The Reda inlet is self-priming for low capacity, while for nominal capacity the machine needs a low pressure. An impeller inside the distributor accelerates the working speed of the inlet stream to prevent fat globules from breaking and ensures fat and foam free results.
The outlet of the separator is a hydraulic seal type, which guarantees no foam and requires no servicing. As standard, all machines feature a standardisation device featuring two manometers for easy skimming control.
Other advantages include a water unit supplied as standard.
The mechanical drive is supplied in two different ways -- a gear type and belt drive transmission. The gear type is simple to service and has a patented flexible horizontal shaft that allows movements which simulate the belt drive flexibility. The belt type transmission is supplied with larger size machines and has a frequency converter to prevent the motor from overheating and offers low consumption start-ups and less stress during the discharge cycle.
