Ernie Gedling has been appointed technical manager at Riverside Food Services. Based at Riverside’s new depot in Powys, Wales, Gelding’s role will encompass all quality and technical areas, including food quality and safety, traceability, health and hygiene, as well as product specifications and recipes, and quality knowledge and experience.
Gedling joins Riverside from Fayre Game where, as technical manager, he was heavily involved in the agriculture and traceability aspects of meat supplied largely to major retailers.
Gedling has also consulted for the Meat and Livestock Commission, assisting food safety centres across the North West of England. As Riverside’s second management appointee in six months, Gedling will report to md Leigh Greenwood.
His aim is to develop the existing BS EN ISO 9000 quality management system to meet the new BS EN ISO 22000 standard and the British Retail consortium accreditations, before moving on to new product development and formalising category diversification.
