Last year a new company, Kingspan Controlled Environments, was launched to supply insulated panels for the cold storage and food preparation market. It followed Kingspan's acquisition in May 2005 of Advance Thermal Composites (ATC) and marked an expansion into the controlled environment sector.
Kingspan Controlled Environments offers a suite of fire-safe, hygienic, fibre-free solutions for internal and external walls, roofs and ceilings within chill, cold store, temperature controlled and hygiene-safe situations.
"The acquisition of ATC strengthens Kingspan's offer in this important market where temperature control, hygiene and fire safety are the key requirements," says general manager Mark Crimmins.
The new company's offer combines two systems, Kingspan's KS 1100/1150 CS range and the range developed by ATC, both suitable for use within a temperature range of 35°C to -40°C.
Their polyisocyanurate (PIR) fibre-free core means there is no risk from airborne fibres, a common problem with mineral fibre systems, claims Kingspan, which can cause difficulties and lead to hygiene failure in a clinically clean food environment.
