With summer fast approaching, Doddington Dairy Ice Cream has designed its From a Flower range of luxury ice creams to tempt consumers into treating themselves.
Each flavour in the range is inspired by a flower. Saffron & Cardamom uses the world's most expensive spice to illustrate the product's premium status, while the sweet scent of cardamom is used to soften the intense flavour of saffron.
Heather Honey is locally sourced from the Cheviot Hills of North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders, meanwhile Orchid Vanilla and Rose are flavoursome and clean on the palate, claims the company.
The ice cream is stored in premium 490ml square cartons, which the firm says emphasise the product's luxury. "When ice cream was invented it required an ice house in a country estate, exotic fruits carefully tended glass houses, many servants, and unlimited wealth," says Doddington director Neill Maxwell.
"Through this range we hope we have rediscovered the roots of ice cream and reinvented ice cream as a high class, distinctive product, a long way from convenience freezer food."
The ice cream is sold in specialist delicatessens and luxury food stores across the UK, including Harrods Food Hall.
The company has also been experimenting with liquor and has developed Alnwick Rum Truffle Ice Cream. The 120ml cartons are available in retail outlets and delicatessens throughout the north east of England, where Doddington is based.
