Anyone building a new development in the food manufacturing industry needs to think very carefully about fire protection, but when dealing with oils and fats the need for safety is even more pressing.
This was the case for ADM, worldwide producer of edible oils and fats, when building its new manufacturing and warehouse development at Purfleet, Essex.
The firm, which produces brands like Pura and Bertolli in the UK, called upon consultant Carrilion Specialist Services to find a bespoke solution, which came from fire safety specialist Fire Alarm Solutions (FAS).
The FAS proposal was based on a purpose-built Morley-IAS ZX5E control panel including a robust, heavy-duty line-feed printer.
Following a two-week trial, the fire system is now live and to-date has proved completely trouble-free, says FAS.
"This has been an unusual and demanding project, with the need to integrate a number of different systems in one building," says Keith Minster, UK & Ireland sales manager for Morley-IAS.
"However, Morley-IAS's open protocol and easy-to-install, easy-to-use architecture has provided the ideal foundation for FAS's tailored solution."
