Kildare-based cooked meat ingredient firm Dawn Farm Foods has bought cooked bacon processor TMI for an undisclosed sum.
TMI, which specialises in microwave cooked bacon, pigs in blankets, and grilled vegetables employs 170 staff across its Northampton and Coventry sites and turned over £15M in 2005. “It’s a good deal for the owners and a good deal for the long-term interests of the workforce,” said TMI md David Abbott, who will stay on with the firm as part of the arrangement.
Dawn Farm Foods head of marketing John McGrath said: “Initially, we will just let the company sit, but in the future, we will look at ways of working closer together.”
Earlier this year, Dawn Farm Foods, part of the Queally Group, made a euro 28M investment in Ireland, which includes plans for Ireland’s first Meat Science and Innovation Centre. “Building commences in November and should be ready by next summer,” said McGrath.
