A special 14-head version of Ishida's latest R Series multi-head weigher has helped increase production and save on labour costs at a leading Spanish supplier of fresh fruit, vegetables and salads .
The main attraction for Vega Mayor in Navarre, part of the Florette group, with 15% of the European supermarket fruit and vegetable business, was the powerful feeder vibration system
This uses Ishida's pulse width modulation technology. The combination of pulse width modulation and special contact surface materials keeps difficult salads moving.
Vega Mayor says that Ishida's development of a new way of attaching the vibrating parts to the machine body has meant less wear and maintenance.
Some 40 different vegetables come into the company's temperature controlled warehouse where they are quality controlled and selected as needed to meet demand.
At any one time up to eight lines are running.
The plant produces 118 salad combinations in bags weighing from 150g to 1.5kg. The Ishida weigher is used mainly for retail packs of 200g and 400g, with speeds of 45 to 70 packs a minute.
