The fresh culinary herb sector is set for a makeover. Five of the UK's major fresh herb suppliers - R&G and Fresh Herb Solutions, HumberVHB, Lighthorne Herbs, Arava and Scotherbs and Swedeponic - which between them represent 90% of fresh culinary herbs to the nation's supermarkets, have united to create the new Fresh Herbs marketing campaign.

The campaign will aim to raise the profile of fresh herbs and increase purchases by driving consumer reappraisal of the fresh culinary herb category.

Sputnik Communications has been appointed to launch the campaign, which will focus on the persuasive lifestyle benefits of regular fresh herb consumption. Activity will also include a drive to educate consumers on how fresh herbs can be used to easily transform a meal, while debunking common misconceptions.

Leon Mundey, a spokesperson for Fresh Herbs commented: "This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of fresh culinary herbs amongst our target audience. It is important to spread the message that fresh herbs are accessible and easy to use, even if consumers lack confidence or time in the kitchen. We are confident that the campaign will successfully grow the market."
