Underwood Meat Company has bought Northern Catering (Sheffield) for an undisclosed sum, enabling it to further expand in the foodservice arena.
The acquisition is the second dedicated catering butcher that Underwood, based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, has acquired in two months. The company snapped up Barn Catering Butchers in June in a deal, which helped it open up a national customer base.
Strategic Corporate Finance played the lead role in advising Underwood, supplier of fresh meat products to chains such as Café Rouge and Whitbread.
“This acquisition is suitably placed to facilitate further strategic growth for both organisations,” said Underwood md John Heeley. “Northern Catering will continue to operate as a stand alone business that will complement our existing business and allow us to develop our businesses and reputation within the independent catering sector.”
