Food Manufacture magazine is hosting a round-table debate in Leamington Spa, UK, from 10am to 2pm on November 15 focusing on maximising return on investment from food industry IT systems.

The morning event, organised by the Food Manufacture team, will comprise a select group of operations directors, IT managers, system suppliers and independent advisors. It will examine practical ways to overcome obstacles to the smooth implementation of systems in relation to staff from the board room to the shop floor.

The round-table will be independently chaired by Lawrence Hutter of Deloitte. It will be user led and will provide opportunities for those using IT systems to share experiences and gather valuable insights into successful IT use.

We will discuss the problems experienced by system users. Areas covered will include top level enterprise resource planning and supply chain management systems, manufacturing execution systems and systems integration with factory equipment and programmable logic controllers at shop floor level.

The aim is to offer participants a package of ideas, to help them avoid the worst pitfalls to successful implementation, and suggestions on how to resolve existing problems.

Attendance is free of charge and by invitation only. I hope the day will generate some frank discussion. It should also be a good networking opportunity.

A small number of free places remain, which I am now making available exclusively to recipients of Food Manufacture’s news email-alert network. However, those eligible must work within the UK food and drink manufacturing sector and have a particular interest in IT implementation, either from a production or systems perspective.

Since places at the round-table are limited they will be made available on a first come, first served basis. For those wishing to attend please email Food Manufacture’s editor Rick Pendrous directly, providing your position, company and contact details.

Further details about the round-table programme and venue will be forwarded to successful applicants.

I hope I get the opportunity to meet you personally in Leamington Spa next month.
