McCain today announces the appointment of Donnie Munro as business development chef within Foodservice. The newly created position will ensure McCain maintains its position as one of the UK's leading frozen food companies.
Munro said: "This is an exciting opportunity for me to work with a highly innovative company to support its move forward in the foodservice sector. I will be working with the development team to create new products needed by the catering industry and building relationships with companies, group chefs and groups to truly understand what their needs are - one chef to another chef."
Munro began his career 28 years ago, working his way through many top hotels and restaurants. More recently he was executive chef at Ackergill Tower in Caithness, a favourite destination of many celebrities and the Queen Mother. He then moved on to be executive chef at Peter de Savary's Private Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle, preparing food for the likes of Jack Nicolson and Michael Douglas who were regulars in the kitchen, eating at the dining table which was a sought after haven.
Since 2002 Munro worked for Baxter's Food Group as food and beverage manager responsible for setting up its Speciality Food Centre in Perthshire and then moved on to be business development chef at Nestlé Foodservice UK.
Munro is a member of prestigious Master Chefs of Great Britain and a member of the Craft Guild of Chefs and has recently joined The Food Development Association.
Adrian Greaves, associate director McCain Foodservice, said: "We are very excited to be working with such an experienced chef and look forward to developing new products and categories within the foodservice sector with his expert guidance. He is a tremendous asset to our team providing expert insight drawn from his tremendous experience within the catering industry.”
