Morrison has appointed two new joint heads of product development to spearhead the supermarket's redevelopment. Simon Mitchell joins from Asda where he was head of Asda brand product responsible for all own-label strategy, product innovation, quality and safety; and Tesco’s central European product development manager Elaine Scott also joins.

Scott previously lead product development in central Europe, heading up the product development strategy across four markets in the region. She also spent time with Tesco in South Korea and six years in the UK heading development across all chilled foods.

Mitchell and Scott have the task of transforming Morrison's own-label offering and delivering contemporary food that meets current and future customer needs.

These appointments were made by Capitis Partners, a retail and consumer goods specialist headhunting business. Head of fast moving consumer goods at Capitis Partners, Ben Twynam, said: “Morrisons make and prepare a wider range of local, quality and fresh foods than any other supermarket. These new heads of product development are exciting roles, enabling Morrisons to continue to set the benchmark in customer food quality standards.”
