Strike action has been averted at Warburtons after staff voted to accept the company’s latest pay offer, union bosses confirmed this morning.
Employees at the Bradford-based baker had scheduled a walk out in December after rejecting a 3.7% pay increase made over the summer but called it off at the last minute after the company tabled an improved offer of 3.9%. Staff were given the opportunity to vote on the new offer over Christmas and accepted it, said a spokesman for the Bakers, Food & Allied Workers Union.
Warburtons, which employs more than 4,230 people at 13 bakeries and 11 depots, said the offer was “fair and competitive” and “in line with the settlements currently being achieved in the food manufacturing industry”
