Tangerine Confectionery has appointed Robert Whitefield, former chairman of Jamesons Chocolates, as non-executive director of the sugar confectionery specialist.

Whitefield brings immense experience to the Blackpool-based firm, having worked as a consultant to confectionery companies all over the world. He is currently a non-executive director of Magna Specialist Confectioners, the UK’s largest manufacturer of easter eggs, and a trading partner of Tangerine.He joins Tangerine at a crucial point in the company’s history. The firm’s £58M acquisition of Monkhill Confectionery from Cadbury Schweppes in February this year created a group employing 1,500 people across seven sites, making some of the most famous sweet brands in the UK. The company’s product portfolio now includes Butterkist popcorn, Barratt Sherbet Fountains, Lion gums, Princess Marshmallows, Taverners traditional sweets and MOJO chews.
