Genesis of a new range
Northern Ireland-based artisan baker Genesis has grown its sales fivefold in the UK in the past year.
It says this is due to its new range of pancakes and scones supplied to Sainsbury and Waitrose.
It has five Crafty branded products, including Big Pancakes, hand-crafted Cranberry and Yoghurt Scones and Double Butter Fruit Scones.
Brian McErlain, Genesis md, said: “Our research shows that our distinctive branding and different range of products are growing the market, particularly for scones and pancakes. There are people now buying scones who weren’t doing so before due to the youthful brand.”
It’s really Pomegreat
Pomegreat, pomegranate juice maker, has launched a blend to its ambient range: Pomegreat & Ruby Orange.
“Whilst the British palate has become more exotic, orange juice still remains a core family breakfast staple,” said Rob Sutton md of Pomegreat.
“By launching an accessible new variant we hope to encourage trial with our current buyers and add incremental growth, which will drive the pomegranate juice category forward by attracting new consumers.”
Artful dodgers on the go
Burton’s Foods has now launched Jammie Dodger Snack Bars and Maryland Munch Bars in single bar format.
Jaspal Chada, marketing director at Burton’s Foods, said: “Consumer demand for ‘on-the-go’ snacks in portion-controlled formats is an emerging trend and with the launch of the singles format we are poised to meet that trend.”
Grand Marnier
Thorntons is launching Grand Marnier and Orange Truffles for the festive season, which contain no artificial, colours, flavours, preservatives or hydrogenated fats.
According to Thomas Lowndes, the liqueur chocolate market is set to grow by 6% by 2011 with premium brands such as deluxe, malt and imported whiskies leading growth.
