Customer trials demonstrate abilities of multi-purpose mixer
Recent customer trials have demonstrated the flexibility of the Vrieco Nauta Vitomix multi-purpose mixer from Hosokawa Micron. The Vrieco Nauta Vitomix can not only cope with difficult applications like producing pastes and homogenising cohesive and non-cohesive powders, but it is also suitable for homogenisation of sensitive products like brittle granules or freeze-dried products.
Three separate trials were carried out to test a single machine. The first test involved the mixing of two cohesive powders, the second test introduced oils to the mixture while retaining its powdery properties, and the final test involved the production of a lump- free paste.
In the first test, bakery flour and egg powder were mixed using medium shear mixing, resulting in a homogeneous mixture after only three minutes.
In the second test, sunflower oil was introduced into flour and melted butter then injected into the flour/egg powder mixture. This produced a powdery mixture that showed no sign of dough creation. The oils were completely incorporated within the mixture after only eight minutes.
In the final test the Vrieco Nauta Vitomix successfully mixed water with guar gum and sodium carboxymethylcellulose (Na-CMC).
The Vrieco Nauta Vitomix is a rapid-mix, mid-shear conical mixer. It has two, large, multi-purpose, high-speed lumpbreakers incorporated within the vessel wall which enables liquids to be injected into the batch without lump formation.
