Flowmeters for bag-in-box fillers
Packaging specialist Flexifill is fitting Copa-XF electromagnetic flowmeters from ABB on its aseptic bag-in-box filling machines for the food industry. As well as helping the company meet stringent technical standards for accuracy and reliability, the ABB meters also help Flexifill provide its customers with the security of rapid meter replacement if needed.
Flexifill designs and manufactures liquid packaging systems, with bag-in-box machines accounting for around 70% of its market. It has opted for Copa-XF filling meters for aseptic automatic and semi-automatic filling machines, which are aimed primarily at the dairy industry. It needed an electromagnetic flowmeter that could withstand 140°C sterilisation as well as caustic cleaning solutions.
Copa-XF meters offer 0.2% reproducibility, coupled with 0.5% accuracy. Their compact design was produced specifically for mounting in filling systems, including rotary and linear fillers. The gap-free and crevice-free construction has also been carefully developed for hygienic applications. The meters can withstand cleaning temperatures of up to 150°C.
Copa-XF meters are available for flow ranges from 0.2l/min to 240m3/h. They are available with a variety of end fittings, including aseptic, weld stub and flange type, and are suitable for most fluids with a conductivity measurements of over 5µS/cm.
