A new conveyor belt aimed at the food industry has been launched by Habasit Rossi, which is already bringing cost savings to one undisclosed bakery.

The HabasitLINK M0870 Micropitch Flat Top 0.3 inch pitch system features a belt specifically designed for the smallest possible gaps in nose bar transfers. By running over a 7mm diameter nose bar, it eliminates the need for dead plates. This extremely tight transfer leads to increased profitability by conveying a broad range of delicate, small footprint food products.

Smooth running, gap reduction and less product damage have also been achieved within the manufacturing process because the Micropitch facilitates smooth and tight transfers, enhanced tracking and product stability, while allowing recovery of dispersed products such as sesame seeds.

Damage and loss occurs mainly when delicate products, such as seafood, meat, vegetables and baked goods, are transferred between conveyor systems.

By combining a new belt design and reducing the nose bar diameter the chance of products becoming pinched, falling, sagging into the clearance space or accumulating and knocking together on dead plates is said to be significantly reduced and therefore there is less wastage.

The Micropitch is manufactured in a high performance engineering polymer polyacetal - polyoxmethylene - and can operate in temperatures from -40°C to 90°C, which makes it ideal for all types of food processing.
