Structural design principles for delivery of bioactive components in nutraceuticals and functional foods.

There have been major advances in the design and fabrication of structured delivery systems for encapsulation of nutraceutical and functional food components. This review discusses some of the key nutrients that need to be delivered and highlights the main limitations to their current utilisation within the food industry.

== Traffic light labelling ==

Impact of different food label formats on healthiness evaluation and food choice of consumers: a randomised-controlled study.

In a randomised study in Hamburg, 420 adult subjects were exposed to one of five conditions: a simple 'healthy choice' tick; a multiple traffic light label; a monochrome guideline daily amount (GDA) label; a coloured GDA label; and no label. It is concluded that consumer understanding differs for different label formats, and adults profit most from the multiple traffic light labels.
