Seed Stacked, a flapjack designed by a professional wrestler, is being launched in two new flavours, after more than a quarter of a million of the original bars were sold in less than nine months.
The two new varieties are carob and yogurt topped, and are being rolled out nationally. When professional wrestler Chris Thompson, known as Chris Lightning, was stopped in his tracks and diagnosed with Crohn's disease four years ago, he researched natural ways to improve his condition.
Finding that seeds were documented to help, he set about creating his own recipes of flapjacks. He started to make the Seed Stacked flapjack from his kitchen and won a Dragon's Den style competition with Peter Jones on the judging panel. When the original bar was launched the product outsold single Mars Bars in its first week, according to Thompson.
He said: "It has been an eventful journey but has ultimately had an extremely positive outcome with the start of what I hope will be a hugely successful career, developing new ways to introduce this vital ingredient into the diets of everyday people.
"I started this in a bid to be healthier and the flapjacks have had a massive impact. Yet they now appeal to everyone - from runners and gym goers needing energy, to busy mums looking for lunchbox fillers and anyone wanting a healthy tasty snack."
