The cool way to beat the personnel alarm trap

Leeds-based Stonegate Instruments has announced an 18% increase in sales of its Trapped Personnel Alarm system for refrigeration systems, as companies with cold stores and refrigerated warehousing facilities comply with stringent health and safety legislation.

In its guidance on precautions to prevent a person being trapped in a freezer room or cold enclosed area, the Health & Safety Executive recommends that a minimum of an audible alarm actuator should be provided inside the cold area, which has led to a boost in sales of Stonegate's Trapped Personnel Alarm.

Stonegate's alarm monitors latching emergency push buttons inside cold stores and gives audio and visual alarms if someone is trapped inside.

The safety alarm device can be mounted on the panel door or the wall, is backed up by batteries and has mains failure alert mechanisms, mute and repeat features.

Shaun Evers, md of Stonegate Instruments, says: "Making cold store environments safer places to work has been the driving force behind the innovative design of our Trapped Personnel Alarm."
