Arla launches new cream pot

Arla Foods has marked the start of commercial cream production at its new £70m creamery in Leeds with the launch of new injection-moulded, in‐mould label pots.

The new polypropylene pots replace thermoformed shrink-sleeved pots and have been developed by Mansfield‐based packaging firm Closures.

Arla UK packaging manager Richard Taplin said: “The labels allow us to use higher-quality photographic images which we are utilising to offer inspirational recipe ideas to the shopper. They also fulfil our customers’ aim of attracting additional traffic to the cream category in store.”

Closures has invested more than £10m in a dedicated production facility for Arla and recruited a team of 20 to supply Arla with 160m+ cream pots a year.

In-mould labelling uses labels during the pot manufacturing process so that the label is an integral part of the final pot, which is then delivered ‘pre-decorated/labelled’.
