Meat proteins manufacturer BHJ UK Protein Foods has reinforced its grip on the UK market by renewing British Quality Assured Pork (BQAP) accredited status for its Drinde range.

The portfolio of products enables meat processors to retain the moisture content of goods, preserving their texture and succulence and maintaining a lengthy shelf-life.

The company claims to be the only UK-based operation offering a BQAP- accredited 100% clean-label solution. It also meets Red Tractor Farm Assured criteria. Drinde is made from dehydrated rind, so can be included on food labels within total meat content. It is used primarily in reformed meat products such as sausages, sausage rolls, burgers or meatballs.

The ingredient enables BHJ's manufacturing customers to declare UK country of origin for their meat. That chimes with EU Country of Origin Legislation, which comes into force in 2011/12, requiring processors to signal the origin of at least primary ingredients on pack.
