Privately-owned blending company Moguntia won praise from the judges for its impressive organic growth. The bespoke seasonings and spice blends firm doubled its turnover from £4.5M in 2007, to a projected £9.2M this year.
Growth was driven by new customers as well as a rise in orders from existing customers in traditional and new business sectors.
Its adoption of modern production methodologies, such as lean manufacturing, together with focused investment have helped the company raise output by 51% with 10% fewer workers.
The Small Company of the Year award is presented to the best small UK food or drink manufacturer – typically employing fewer than 100 staff and with a turnover less than £10M a year.
