Supercharged croissants: Frutarom hopes to kick-start breakfast by adding natural flavours and extracts to bakery goods
Energizing croissants to kick-start the day are just one product Frutarom could help bakeries develop thanks to a range of bakery compounds derived from herbal extracts it has just launched.

Combined with fruit and vegetable preparations, natural flavours and other natural extracts, the ‘natural energy’ extracts could convey numerous benefits.

They could also be used in categories such as beverages, dairy and confectionery, Dr Paolo Tamagni, Frutarom marketing director, food Europe told Rod Addy at the 2011 Food Ingredients Europe exhibition in Paris in this exclusive podcast.

Caffeine content

The range includes Finomate, derived from green yerba maté, which supports the body with essential vitality and energy thanks to its caffeine content.

Neuravena is extracted from wild green oats and has been shown in human studies to promote mental performance, alertness and stress-coping and learning abilities.

Frutarom claims scientific backing for its purslane extract Portusana’s boast that it maintains healthy blood sugar metabolism and supports weight management.
