Poultry packing partners reaps rewards in Russia

The Meyn-Ishida alliance has designed, supplied and installed a new 10,500 birds per hour (bph)plant for Russia's largest poultry producer, Zao Prioskolie - one that could expand to 12,000bph.

Ishida weigh-batchers produce highly accurate weighments at high speed, which are then placed in trays and manual adjustments made for perfect presentation.

Each of the four weigh-batchers at Prioskolie comprises an Ishida R-Series multihead weigher, a 16-station batching table and the belts, diverters and signalling systems that enable optimal synergy between automation and human operators.

Now an entire batch of over 24,000 birds can be handled from live entry to flow-wrapped trays in around 2 hours 20 minutes.

The weigh-batcher approach minimises giveaway, despite Russia's demanding minimum weight regulations. For wings and thighs it is as little as 0.2%.

Production manager Sergey Vyacheslavovich Chasovskikh has rated the new plant's overall equipment efficiency at more than 73.7%.
