Lipid-soluble natural astaxanthin is usually used in oil-based formulations. However, due to its powerful antioxidant properties, there is a high demand for a water soluble form for use as an active ingredient for beverages.
"We are seeing a growing demand from food and beverage firms seeking water-soluble formulations of our AstaPure brand," says Efrat Kat, director of marketing and sales at Algatechnologies. "We've been supplying AstaPure to beverage manufacturers in the Japanese market for several years."
The astaxanthin emulsion is produced under patent-protected, ISO- and good manufacturing practice-certified technology. It is a ready-to-use formulation and can easily be introduced into liquid-filled capsules or any other water soluble application.
Its technology is based on food-grade, 100%-water-soluble micelles, enabling the production of a highly stable product form with respect to pH and temperature.
