New seafood processor Sealincs to create 100 jobs
The business will be operated by a holding company called Sealincs and production should start next month.
The joint-directors, seafood entrepreneurs, Orn Jonsson and Ken Bottomley, have set the business up in an empty 5,203 m2 seafood processing facility, formerly operated by the Mariner firm in the town. The firm will process fresh and frozen white fish, salmon and shellfish for retail, food service and export customers.
Fish will be sourced largely from Icelandic waters through the entrepreneur’s existing supply arrangements. Jonsson and Bottomley are also involved in seafood sourcing firm, Atlantic Fresh, which supplied fresh Icelandic fish to markets and processors in Hull and Grimsby.

North East Lincolnshire Council welcomed the new factory and the jobs it would bring to the area.
Jason Longhurst, head of development at North East Lincolnshire Council said: “In the past 12 months we’ve stepped up our focus in supporting the food manufacturing sector with the results of this now starting to have an impact.
“The Mariner development represents a new initiative by long standing members of the Grimsby seafood cluster and is very well received. It not only shows their commitment to the area but will create valuable growth in the sector and significant job creation.”
