Innovation made Fabulous Bakin’ Boys Bounce Back Champion
The firm’s head boy Gary Frank claims in this video, the firm’s modest size plus a commitment to new ideas gave his firm a competitive advantage in introducing food manufacturing innovation.
The Great British Bounce Back was launched earlier this year to showcase food and drink firms – big, medium and small – that are leading the UK economy out of recession.
Staged by William Reed Business Media – publisher of FoodManufacture.co.uk and Food Manufacture magazine and organiser of Foodex – the Great British Bounceback competition celebrated the success of food and drink firms that are bouncing back to deliver success out of adversity.
Food and drink manufacturing companies
We invited British food and drink manufacturing companies to submit a statement explaining why they deserved the title Great British Bounce Back Champion.
Here’s the winning statement from The Fabulous Bakin' Boys: “Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Last year we launched the world's first portion of fruit bakery snack. This year we launched the first ever range of individually wrapped mini cupcakes and muffins after a £3M investment in a fully automated packing line.”
Meanwhile, Foodex 2014 − the UK show for food and drink processing, packaging and logistics – will take place between March 24−26 2014 at the National Exhibition Centre Birmingham.

Exhibitors and visitors
The last event − staged in 2011 − was judged a success by exhibitors and visitors alike. Of exhibitors surveyed, 85% rated Foodex 2011 as ‘excellent’, ‘good’ or ‘fair’. 80% believed they met "good quality people" and 79% felt their business objectives were met.
A survey of visitors revealed 79% judged Foodex was important for their business, 80% said it exceeded their expectations and 88% said they would return in 2014.
Mark Bishop, joint md of food processing equipment manufacturer Interfood Technologies, said: “There’s no question that Foodex is the established showcase for our industry and an effective bridge to the buyers that suppliers want to meet.
“As we face the challenges of an evolving industry, it is important for us all to work together to ensure that it remains so. We are grateful to the organisers for giving us the opportunity to collaborate and influence Foodex’s continued success.”
