Global award for plastic milk bottle

A 'next generation' plastic milk bottle called Infini has won international accolade for Milton Keynes-based Nampak Plastics.

Judges for the WorldStar Awards identified Infini as one of the most significant new products in its beverages category over the last 12 months.

Nampak Plastics' md Eric Collins says: "We're delighted that, after several honours on a national level, the Infini bottle has now been recognised on a global scale."

Infini is the result of a four-year project designed to reduce the weight and carbon footprint of the standard milk bottle, but without compromising on its strength.

The bottle contains 15% recycled high density polyethylene and reduces the weight of the standard milk bottle by 25% (depending on size) saving 16,000t of material and 34,000t of carbon each year.

Infini bottles are stocked in retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Sainsbury and Morrisons.
