ALP appoints former NFU man as new Chair

The Association of Labour Providers (ALP) has appointed Kevin Roberts as its new non-executive Chair.

Roberts joins the ALP following a career within the food and agricultural sectors, most recently as director general of the National Farmers Union.

Prior to this, Roberts held the chief executive role at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board and was director general of the Meat and Livestock Commission.

He has also held the roles of non-executive chair of the European Food Safety Inspection Service and non-executive director of Assured Food Standards.

‘Drive forward standards’

David Camp, ALP director, said: “I am confident that Kevin will drive forward standards to ensure that the provision of agency and seasonal labour to the UK food and agricultural sectors is recognised as a model of good practice nationally and internationally.”

Roberts said: “The ALP has grown from a standing start to become a widely respected trade association within the food industry. I am looking forward to my role as Chair and to working with all industry stakeholders to continue the good work of the ALP.”
