Gregory has taken over from Professor Alan Malcolm, who also served as chief scientific adviser to the Institute of Biology.
He is the currently the chairman of Assured Food Standards ̶ the organisation behind the ‘Red Tractor’ food labelling scheme and a non-executive director of 2 Sisters Food Group.

Gregory said he was “delighted” with his new role. “Today, more than ever, BNF has a unique opportunity to disseminate independent, authoritative information about diet, physical activity and health to a variety of audiences,” he said.
Gregory also holds a number of other positions in science related organisations.
He is a member of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, a visiting professor at the Centre for Food Security at Reading University and a trustee of the Institute of Food Research. He was formerly Marks & Spencer’s director of technology
