Investment in people and training – they are the two key factors when moving production following the purchase of a new brand.

That’s the view of Baxters’ global director of operations John Campbell.

And he should know.

He’s just overseen the production move of Fray Bentos from the Princes site in Lincolnshire to the Baxters factory in Fochabers, Moray.

The project included the complete “lift and shift” of the production line and the building of a new extension to accommodate it.

Speedy operation

What’s more, it was done in little more than nine months – a timescale Lorien Engineering, the company employed to oversee the move, said would usually be doubled.

Listen to our exclusive podcast to discover what changes the factory has undergone and what innovative training approaches were adopted.

Campbell also discusses the challenges of recruiting more than 100 new employees and what his long-term plans are for the Fray Bentos brand.
