Food manufacturing Oscars ‘good indication’ of business health

Winning a Food Manufacturing Excellence Award (FMEA) is a “good indication” of business health, according to Coca-Cola Enterprises’ (CCE).

Landing the 2012 award for Environmental Initiative of the Year had boosted internal morale and raised the firm’s reputation, Joe Franses, CCE’s sustainability director, told FoodManufacture.co.uk in this exclusive video.

A highly-successful plan to boost recycling rates during the London Olympic Games helped CCE to clinch the FMEA trophy, said Franses.

CCE’s group operations director Roman Manthey attributed the win to an embedded environmental focus throughout the company.

Best of the best

Meanwhile, perhaps your food and drink manufacturing could share the glory. The FMEAs – the awards that recognise the best of the best in Britain’s largest manufacturing sector – are now open for entries.

Two new awards this year are the ‘Best use of food ingredients’ and ‘Supply chain initiative’.

They join nine individual categories, together with awards for the 'Best training programme', 'Environmental Initiative of the Year'.

‘Judges’ star performer’

Awards will also be made for ‘Most innovative small food or drink manufacturer’ (one that employs fewer than 100 people and has a turnover of less that £10M/year) and ‘Judges’ star performer’. This award is made to the firm that has been outstanding in one particular area of activity.

The full list of categories is available below.

Entering the awards is both free and easy. Simply complete an online entry form at: FoodManAwards or download a form from the same address to complete and return by post.

Alternatively, contact Rebecca George on 01293 610 422 or at Rebecca.george@wrbm.com.

The awards presentations will take place at a glittering awards dinner on Thursday November 21 at London’s Hilton Hotel in Park Lane.
