Stockton-on-Tees-based Tata Global Beverages will battle it out with 13 other firms to win the award, now in its 22nd year, which celebrates manufacturing excellence in the UK.
Among the other contenders for the prize, run by Cranfield School of Management and Works Management magazine, of BFA Factory of the Year are companies that make goods as varied as hand crafted mattresses, material for airbags and broadcast and professional cameras.
‘Very high calibre’
“This year’s awards generated a high number of entries all of a very high calibre. This is very encouraging for UK manufacturing showing the sector is very much alive,” said Dr Marek Szwejczewski, director of the Best Factory Awards.
“Our awards aim to recognise the achievements of those factories that are setting the standard for British manufacturing and highlight systems and processes that others can learn from.”
Cranfield said this year’s finalists had revealed a sharp increase in productivity and a decline in customer lead times, compared with last year’s entrants.
The winners will be announced at the BFA Awards Ceremony taking place on 27 September at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London.
Other companies shortlisted for the award include food industry equipment supplier Siemens and packaging firm D S Smith.
Meanwhile, Food Manufacture will be hosting its own awards the Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards in November.
The awards recognise the very best food and drink manufacturing companies. They honour and reward those companies that have displayed progress and achievements through their manufacturing process in this competitive and fast moving industry.
