Ready meal boss shares top three tips for growth
Charlie Bigham, founder of the Charlie Bigham’s brand of posh ready meals, told FoodManufacture.co.uk in this exclusive video that if food companies focused on constantly improving the quality of their products, increasing efficiencies and building the best workforce in the sector their businesses would grow.
“If you focus on the right things and make progress in those areas then the rest will follow. Our brand will grow, our team will grow, we’ll do better as a business and our sales will grow.”
But improving efficiencies did not simply mean cutting costs from products. Instead, speeding up food production would lead to fresher products and increased output, said Bigham.
‘Growing consumer awareness’
The food manufacturer reported a 72% growth in sales over the past year, which Bigham attributed to a growing consumer awareness of the firm’s products.

Meanwhile, last week Bigham claimed the horsemeat crisis had been good for the food industry in general because it made shoppers consider the provenance of their food more than ever before and his business in particular.
